Cryotherapy in Barry

Warts, verrucae, and skin tags are common skin conditions that can be stubborn, uncomfortable, and slow to clear up on their own. Many people try over-the-counter creams and gels for months without success, only to find the lesion keeps returning. Warts and verrucae are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and can spread to other areas of skin or to other people if left untreated. If you are struggling with a wart, verruca, or skin tag and are looking for cryotherapy in Barry then please contact us, we can help.

Diagnosis & Treatment

Our trained clinicians can assess your skin lesion, confirm whether it is suitable for cryotherapy, and carry out treatment in the same appointment in most cases. Cryotherapy uses extreme cold to destroy the abnormal skin cells, allowing healthy skin to regrow in its place.

What to expect

Each appointment will take roughly 15-20 minutes.
During your visit, our clinician will examine the affected area and confirm that cryotherapy is the right treatment for you. A fine jet or probe of liquid nitrogen is then applied directly to the lesion for a few seconds. You may feel a brief stinging or burning sensation, followed by some redness or mild swelling over the following days as the treated skin heals.

What is cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy, also known as cryosurgery, is a quick and effective treatment that uses liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy unwanted or abnormal skin tissue, such as warts, verrucae, and skin tags. The extreme cold causes the targeted cells to die, and a scab typically forms over the area before naturally healing within one to two weeks.
This procedure does not require an anaesthetic for most treatments and is generally well tolerated. Depending on the size, location, and depth of the lesion, more than one session may be needed to fully clear it.
A follow-up appointment may be arranged if necessary, this will determine whether further treatment is required.
